The Improbability Drive has stopped at... fruit.

August is a pear
heavy in the hand with sweetness
and warmth
Taut skin holding back luscious flesh

Don't set it down again
No- I don't care why
When you come back, the sweetness will be sickly
and the warmth gone to rot

Eat it now-
Standing over the sink
the juice running through your fingers and
down your chin onto your good shirt

Eat it now-
August is ripe!

  1. A metaphor for seizing the day perhaps? I like. :)
